Over the last weekend we had a debrief retreat with several other couples and singles back from significant times overseas with CCC. Our whole family went. The location was near Haines City, FL at a lakeside retreat center, including aligators in the lake and love bugs in the air 🙂
It was a significant time for our family to process together the feelings of loss of our old world and the steps of adjustment we have made to live in this new country called Florida. We are really grateful that CCC cares enough about it’s missionaries to help them make the adjustments back to our home country. Well, home to Rochelle and I, except Florida isn’t yet “home” feeling, and the USA isn’t “home” for our kids, they feel like Japan is home, since they lived and grew up there all their lives. As MK’s (missionary kids) the US is their “passport country”. So it is a really big adjustment to living here and not being able to be “home in Japan” anymore. A lot of military folks relate to these feelings well too.
