Pray for Rochelle’s CLL

Wed Feb 22 Rochelle will be going in for a bone marrow biopsy test. This will help the oncologist directing her chemo treatments, which will begin the second week of March, and go on over 6 months.
We really need your prayers for God’s healing, wisdom and careful work by the doctors and medical personnel involved, and strength to go through the journey.
Pray for comfort and acceptance and faith as we face these next several months, one day at a time. Pray that we can also be His witnesses with those we are with in the hospitals and medical centers.
Pray for all of God’s good work through this experience, that we may grow in intimacy with the Lord. We are so thankful for all your support in prayers!

Report on Ben’s Trip to Japan

BEN’S MISSION TRIP TO TOHOKU, July 15 to August 3, 2011.

Ben had a great trip to the tsunami area (north of any radiation) where his team of 8 served many people by restoring homes and car-ing for the needs of refugees. Ben’s team worked in Kessen-numa and Rikuzen-takata.
One couple they helped, the Kumagais, had a home where the first floor was a res-taurant. The tsunami came crashing into the first floor, but that was as far as it came! Although the couple worked hard to clean up the restaurant, they couldn’t’ do it alone. Ben’s team came alongside them and cleaned floors, windows, and dishes until everything was shiny and ready. The ham-burger steak place is once again serving meals! Ben’s team was also able to share the love of Christ and the gospel with them. Please pray for their salvation.
Thanks for praying for his trip. Ben seemed to really grow through the experience. He has started taking on more leadership com-mitments with Cru at UCF where he is a senior this year. He is helping lead a small group Bible study and learning lots from special Cru confer-ences. Pray for God’s work through him.
Video from his team here: Team Video.

Rochelle’s Mom Joins Us In Florida

After a lot of thinking and discussion and planning, Rochelle’s mom, Esther, has now moved to Florida to live with us. She sold her house and said goodbye to a lot of old friends at a special farewell party hosted by her daughters at her church in Levittown, PA. Church friends, family from up north, neighbors, seniors groups and swim club friends all joined to appreciate her friendship over many years.

She flew down to Orlando with Rochelle on Sept 12th. Steve drove her car down to Florida the following weekend, and we are settling her in to a new place to live right in our home.
We appreciate your prayers for her and God’s grace for all the adjustments, and the grieving of places and friends she may not see much of anymore. Pray for the Lord’s new work in her heart to draw closer to Him.

Reunion with Good Japan CCC staff friends

Each time the staff of CCC gather there are many smaller gatherings. We have all experienced different teams or locations we have been part of as CCC staff. Our favorite is the “Old Japan Hands.” We all “grew up” together back in that season where we met our mates, got married, started families and impacted Japanese college students for Christ! Now it’s great to reminisce and catch up on growing families. Here’s some pics from our time!
